What Steps Should I Take After Being Involved In An Automobile Accident?

There are various steps to take when someone is involved in an automobile accident. If there is a serious injury at the scene, obviously medical personnel, EMTs or ambulances will handle the immediate needs of the situation. If the injuries are not severe, or there are bystanders or witnesses who can assist, there is certain basic information that is crucial to get. One major fact to note is the plate number of the vehicle which can be captured with a cell phone camera.  If that is acquired, my law firm can research DMV records and get all the information that we need about the offending vehicle.  Other useful information is a drivers’ license of the other party and insurance information, but that is secondary and the lawyers can obtain it.  It makes it much easier if we have a running start with that information.  One thing not to worry about is medical treatment.  If you are being taken to an emergency room, do not worry; medical payment will be paid for through various forms of insurance in New York State.  The next thing that I would recommend after the initial medical treatment is contacting a reputable law firm who can guide you through the technical process that exists.
