Why Do I Need An Attorney When Purchasing Or Selling My Home?

Buying or selling a house is probably the biggest financial transaction that a person will do their lifetime; So being crucially important in that regard, an attorney is also crucially important.

If I represent a buyer or a seller in a house, I take them through the process, which includes buying the particular house and the knowledge that I have as attorney guiding them on various aspects that may not be obvious to the naked eye. As an attorney for the buyer I’d be reviewing a contract and looking for what’s appropriate that protects my client and the language must be in there.

Representing a seller, it’s the converse in that I would be preparing a contract and I want to make sure that I prepare a contract that is favorable to my client or at least neutral.  There would be give and take with the attorney for the buyer in that situation but were on top of it and it’s a very important process.  I would definitely discourage people from not using an attorney to buy or sell a home.
