What to know about Probate

Many people have heard the word probate, when a love one has a will and dies they believe that that will govern the distribution of a person’s estate and that is basically true.

One thing that is necessary though is probating the will that means taking the will to the court house, the surrogate’s court in a county where the person resides and having that will certified, making the court issue letters of testamentary so that the person who is nominated as the executor in a will, will have the authority to show it to the banks, stock brokerage houses, collect all the assets, and distribute them to the persons who are entitled to receive those assets.  Under the guidance of myself and the lawyers in my firm we guide people through this probate process.
